My daughter is my best teacher. First of all, her growth rate is overwhelmingly higher than mine. She is three years old now.
What she has been able to do in the past three years is much more than I can do. She can turn over. She can say crawl. She can walk. She remembers new languages. She talks about her will with words. She can got to the toilet alone. She can use chopsticks. She has learned much more than I have.
Next, I must learn her enthusiasm for growth. The other day, I played with her on the monkey bars at the park. She could not twirl on the bars at kindergarten, so she told me that she would like to try again with me. So we went to the park and she tried. In the course of twirling, her hand slipped and she fell. She cried with fear and pain. I was worried. I said, ‘let’s stop practicing and go home’. But she said, ‘no. I want to continue’. And she went to the bars again. Never giving up even through failure, facing the pain and fear – I have to learn from her challenging attitude.
Last, is the lesson that I must learn from her attitude towards communication. She can make friends very quickly. She always smiles and enters a circle of people. She has more fun than anybody in the circle. She talks and smiles more than when she is just with the family.
Sometimes, her friend is surprised by her sudden entrance into the circle. But gradually, all are taken in by her smile. I learned that If I want to take people in, I must also act with such an attitude.
